L-NU: MULTI ACCREDITED AND QUALITY TESTED
The first two quarters of year 2010 has seen the successful renewal of L-NUs multi-tiered accreditations which includes renewal of Deregulated Status, Elevevation to Center of Development for BS, Pharmacy, Accreditations by both PACOCOA and PAASCU, and ISO 9001:2008 certification. In its over 40 years of operation since 1969, this year marks a milestone for having landed the most number a accreditations over a 6-month period.
CENTER FOR DEVELOPMENT FOR BS PHARMACY
BS Pharmacy is one of the most awarded programs of the university. From 1999 to 2009, the college has earned the prestige of being one of the top schools in BS Pharmacy in the Philippines as vouched by the Philippine Regulations Commission.
In recognition of its performance, the college has now been elevated to Center of Development for BS Pharmacy by the Commission on Higher Education. CHED Chairman Dr. Emmanuel Y. Angeles issued the certification dated April 28, 2010.
With this L-NU’s BS Pharmacy is the first and only Center of Development for this program in the whole of Region I.
DISTINCT RENEWAL OF DEREGULATED STATUS
image2image3 October 27, 2003 was a milestone for the university as it was awarded the distinction of Deregulated Status by the Commission on Higher Education. There have been several other HEIs that likewise were thus elevated, but L-NU stands unique in Region I for being the only HEI that has qualified for renewal.
As other HEIs that formerly were L-NU’s peers in distinction slid down, L-NU moves forward as it remains consistent in maintaining high standard in education, research and public service.
As presented by Her Excellency President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo at Malacañang Palace, L-NU received its renewed Deregulated Status dated May 14, 2010.
CROSSOVER ISO 9001:2000 TO ISO 9001:2008
In March the university successfully crossed over from ISO 9001:2000 to ISO 9001:2008 and became the Region’s first Higher Education Institution (HEI) that is accredited for both Academics and Research.
During the first term of the university’s ISO accreditation in 1999, the scope was delimited only to its college of Maritime Education. Since then, the scope has been expanded to include the entire management system of the university.
For this year, and with the elevation to ISO 9001:2008, the scope has been further expanded to specifically acknowledge the university’s balanced thrust for quality education and research.
The Ango-Japanese-American Registrars issued L-NU’s latest ISO certificate last March 19, 2010 with an approved scope on Research and Development Management System and Academic Affairs Management System.
UNIQUE DUAL PAASCU and PACUCOA ACCREDITATION
L-NU is currently the only HEI in Dagupan that is dually accredited by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU) and by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA).
In context with all other accreditation and citations earned by the university, it is not surprising that by either standard, L-NU is found compliant in its delivery of quality education.
The following programs have been re-accredited Level 2 by PAASCU:
Bachelor of Science in Biology
Bachelor of Science in Psychology
Bachelor of Arts English
Bachelor of Arts Mass Communication
Bachelor of Arts Political Science
Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration
The graduate studies program of L-NU is now contributing to the latest addition of accredited programs of the university. Currently its Master of Arts in Education and Master in Public Health have recently been accredited Level 1 by the PACUCOA.
